Fantastic few days at Fair Winds albeit during the coldest few days this year so far (June long weekend). Thankfully, we were able to crank the wood fire and remain toasty warm. It truly is a stunning location and the house is modern, comfy and clean. Its a great place to unwind. Due to the weather, we did more cooking than we had planner for and found the kitchen well stocked with utensils, appliances and some basic pantry items . There’s an IGA at Dover and also one at Geeveston. We also went to the Huon Salmon farm gate (which is just up the road from the house) to get some delicious smoked salmon. Rachel is a fantastic host with booking and communications very easy. We’ve already earmarked Fair Winds for a repeat visit in hopefully (!) not the too distant future.

Stop looking at other properties, as you have found the perfect place. Book it now before you miss out! The photos do not do it justice and you will have your breath taken away by the views right from the comfort of the indoor fire or outdoor hot tub. The blinds are remote controlled so you can start your day staring out at the views without even getting out of bed. Not to mention the private beach. The accommodation has fishing rods so you can try your luck however I would recommend some floating hooks as it is very rocky and without them you spend more time dealing with snags then you do fishing. We were welcomed with the fire ready to light, fresh bread, butter, chocolates and wine. Plus everything you need to cook dinner at home. Stock up in Hounville as there are few supplies after that. The drive into Hobart is very picturesque through all the little towns and apple orchards. It makes for a great day trip. We spent 4 nights here and didn’t want to leave. Thank you to the team behind Fair Winds, a truly memorable experience.

This property is absolutely spectacular, the views are breathtaking and the house is stunning. Due to Covid, we needed to reschedule multiple times and when we finally got there is was more amazing they we imagined, gorgeous little life upon arrival and everything you’d need is there. Couldn’t have been a more perfect house for a trip away.

100% recommend this beautiful luxurious home! As soon as you walk in it feels very homey and that view is next level!! We had a ball fishing and relaxing in the hot tub! The little care package of wine, bread, jam and chocolates was a great touch when walking in for the first time and greatly enjoyed!

Expect the following – Relaxation, peacefulness, private and everything well thought out to cover all needs. Amazing wild life from little birds to the 3 very large 6 foot wingspan(at least) of a Sea Eagle, to wallibies and dolphins in the bay. Your own piece of paradise.

Wow! This property is truly amazing! It has everything you need, including a magnificent view no matter which way you look. We enjoyed the spa watching the sun flicker off the water while the boats and yachts went by. It’s a great central location to view the surrounding attractions like the Tahune air-walk and Hastings caves, roughly a 45 minute drive to both. It was honestly complete bliss and would recommend 10/10!

We stayed in this beautiful house for a weekend away with 6 girlfriends. Not far from Hobart but far enough to feel away from it all. A gorgeous spot with direct access to the water, amazing views and a spectacular house and furnishings, it was perfect. Very well appointed house, everything we needed for a wonderful time away. The sparkling wine and bread were a lovely touch. We didn’t leave the whole time, too much fun enjoying the spa, the warm fire and the view.

Location, location! Luxuriously appointed and spacious, with million-dollar views and absolute privacy, including direct access to a private beach. So many thoughtful touches, from robes, beach towels and welcome gifts such as a bottle of Tasmanian sparkling and freshly basked sourdough, to an Esky for your picnic. We live within one hour of this tranquil oasis and will definitely be back – we felt a world away and left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Thank you for having us!

What a place! We had a most wonderful stay. The home is incredible, the views breathtaking. Loved the finishes and attention to detail. The hosts are helpful and generous. Sitting in the spa admiring the beautiful river, sitting on the couch bu the fire surrounded by a stunning vista and seeing the river and trees from bed – you could not hope for more. The place is 5 star +++++++++++

Fair Winds was by far the nicest place we have ever stayed. The photos really don’t do it justice – the rooms, the views, the whole set-up – it was all fantastic and the only downside was that we couldn’t stay longer. The views really are spectacular – it’s such a gorgeous setting and the drive down from Hobart was breath taking. It was so lovely to be able to get the fire going on a morning and sit with my fresh coffee watching the sun come up and the wee boats trundle up the estuary. We made great use of the hot tub which was such a treat (make sure you use it at night at least once, and switch all the lights off – it’s so special!). When we arrived, Rachael had left us a free bottle of champagne and some fresh bread and local Tassie butter, as well as a full fruit bowl of gorgeous apples. The kitchen also had lots of great things like herbal teas, fresh milk, cupboard staples and herbs and spices, which made cooking there a breeze. The master bedroom was *amazing* – huge bed, the best views over the water and out onto the trees, as well as its own wee deck, and a walk in wardrobe leading to the en suite. We didn’t use the bath as we only had a couple of days there (not long enough!) but it had the best view out onto the trees and down to the private beach. I was there with my partner – now fiance after we got engaged on the deck! and I can definitely recommend it as a wonderful, private and romantic couples retreat. But I’d just as happily go back with a group of friends for a few days. The other rooms off the living room were all a good size and there’s an extra bathroom and separate loo which would allow for a good number of people to stay. We would go back in a heart beat. 12/10!

This place is AMAZING! It felt like our own little piece of paradise. The kids loved exploring down on their own little beach, and the hot tub was a massive winner every night! Highly recommend 🙂
